Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue: a perfect soundtrack for drunkenness.

Generally I like you to read this post and THEN open a bottle of wine. Not today! Break the pattern. Today step away from your computer this minute and grab a corkscrew. Open that bottle NOW!

(This site now has a theme tune. It’s HERE. Click it and read. It adds a majesty to the crap I write.)

And then click THIS. Because this is Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Let it start, begin to experience the magic and then shout upstairs to the family to “stay out of my fucking way”, smell that wonderful bouquet and let that sublime music compliment your whole wine experience for tonight. (It’s nearly 17 minutes long so what’s that, one glass?) You can play it three times per bottle and you’ll feel cultured and better than everyone else. (You are, though, no surprise there – you don’t waste your time online watching cat videos – you head straight to the cultured stuff like this.)

So why are you listening to this? Because Gershwin died today in 1937. If there was ever a piece of music worth celebrating then this is it! And today would be a perfect day to get so drunk that as you swayed from item of furniture to item of furniture to make your way to the kitchen and back again you imagined that each drunken stumble was not a drunken stumble but a beautiful choreographed move in the dance of life.

Okay, open it, ready – GO!
